Jonny will be “glad to say goodbye” to Tudors
It was announced last year that the fourth and final season will go out this April and will feature King Henry VIII’s last two marriages and the last few years of his life. Rhys Meyers, 32, has played the role of the British monarch since the start of the show in 2007. He said: “I’m glad to say goodbye. It’s nice to say goodbye to things. It’s funny, I made a movie with Anthony Hopkins 10 years ago and he said one of his favourite parts of making films was going on to the next thing. “It’s like the death of one thing but the beginning of another. I had the best time doing the series and Henry was one of the best parts I’ve ever played.” Rhys Meyers defended the show’s sex scenes and the decision to keep the King as hunky and attractive. He told Parade magazine: “He was a lot heavier and taller than I am, but so what? I think I’d have been stupid to put on a fat suit and I wasn’t about to gain a lot of weight.” And he added: “Some people think we’ve overdone it [the sex scenes], but they were much more sexually gregarious in the 15th century than we are today. Sex was very, very important. It’s what you did when the sun went down. So we couldn’t leave out the scenes of passion.”
P.S. Read an interesting article about The Tudors season 4 posted on LA Times.
athena said:Considering they’re showing more of their daily life…this obviously could have been a 2 – 3 hour movie…but instead…it’s great to see the scandals and plots, the wickedness of the court….Sad to see the series go, but what’s next….HMMMMM, well, there is Elizabeths’ reign.
